Forging Bonds Across Borders: A New Chapter in the Japan–France Partnership
In the spring and summer of 2026, the next season of “Forging Bonds Across Borders,” the international exchange program between Sorbonne Paris Nord University and Okayama University, brought a new group of French students to Japan for an enriching academic and cultural experience.

From the last Seson this year @Comm-O-Ka, Okayama University keeps on welcoming increasing numbers of European Master Students for at least 4 months …. 60 in 2026, 70 expected in 2027 …. with a target of 100 from 2030….
Working on differente subject in differente labortory all accross okyama universty, we have Chimie, biologie, informatic, mecanic the students explored the intersection between modern technology, visual communication, and traditional Japanese aesthetics. Their fresh perspectives brought new energy to Okayama universty developement, while the experience gave them the opportunity to develop their technical and creative skills in an international professional environment.
But the experience extended far beyond the workplace.
During their time in Okayama, the students discovered the region’s landscapes, history, traditions, and everyday culture. From the lively streets of Okayama City to the quieter rural areas of the prefecture, they experienced different aspects of Japanese life firsthand. Through visits, cultural activities, local events like masturi like cherry blossom in april to firework festival all along summuer, and interactions with the community, they gained a deeper understanding of the cultural environment surrounding their academic and professional experience.
For the students, this journey was not simply an opportunity to study or work abroad. It was also a chance to build relationships, challenge their perspectives, and discover a culture different from their own. Living and working in Japan allowed them to experience the importance of communication across cultural boundaries and to see how different approaches can come together to create new ideas.
As the students return to France and continue their academic journeys, the connections established in Okayama remain an important part of their experience. The partnership between Sorbonne Paris Nord University, Okayama University, and Comm-O-Ka Ltd. demonstrates how international collaboration can create opportunities that extend beyond the classroom, bringing together education, industry, technology, and culture.
The 2026 edition marks another chapter in this ongoing exchange—and, with Comm-O-Ka celebrating its 10th anniversary, it is also a moment to look back at what has been built while looking forward to what comes next.
Forging bonds across borders means more than bringing people together. It means creating opportunities to learn from one another, share ideas, and build relationships that can last long after the journey home.
